#thankfulfor teachers, mentors, leaders

| All scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 |
Every week through the month of May, I will share one thing I am thankful for and how this time of COVID-19 has illuminated that in my life. This week I’m highlighting teachers, mentors and leaders.
Have you ever wondered where you learned to do things like making a schedule, organizing paperwork, cooking food, leading a Bible study? I wonder about these things sometimes, especially as I study the art of teaching.
For some there are vivid memories of learning these tasks. You recall the who, what, when, where, how, and why. For others, these things may seem to be skills you simply have. Still another grouping might have vague memories of certain methods being taught. No matter which grouping you fall into, there has been instruction (formal or informal, explicit or implicit) which has led you to the content understanding you have today.
Throughout the past few months I have taken more notice of the things I do and how I do them. Conversations will come up in my courses about teaching study skills and the like. It initially baffled me that these skills were taught. Had I been taught? Did I really understand the why behind the action? For most skills I eventually realized I had been taught the how and the why. With some reflection I could trace back to lessons and conversations about annotation, punctuation, leadership, studying, the list goes on. Teachers, instructors, pastors, and leaders who facilitated my development have molded the way I live and view the world. I am so grateful that integrity, truth, and perseverance are some of the skills ingrained in me by life leaders, past and present. These individuals have taught me in classrooms, homes, offices, churches, parks, cars, courts, fields, and more.
Little can compare to the wonder and beauty of knowing God has equipped you well to serve fellow members of his kingdom. I owe it to him that I’ve been given countless opportunities to be developed and equipped for every good work. All this intertwined with the diligence and compassion of those teachers and leaders who have shown me the ropes of life.
Huge thanks to those who allow me to fall down in order to get back up again!
It is in your patience I have learned.
Sincerely,
Jacqueline
