Winchester to Melbourne

Winchester Week 3 Review

Greetings!

I am excited to share that the Winchester, Kansas, mission trip finished up well! This past week my one remaining team member and I did various tasks for members of the congregation. We also spent time with some of the families. It was so nice to get to know some of the church members a bit better by just spending time in their homes. We also got the chance to interact with one of the unchurched children who had been in my class for VBS. His sister was playing softball with one of the pastors daughters. This boy saw me first and initiated conversation. He then sat with our group at the game. This was encouraging to me because I could see the way VBS had already made an impact on my community interaction. Something about his time in my group at VBS made him comfortable enough to approach and converse with me in another setting. That was such a blessing!

Throughout the week we prepped some sound panels for the worship center, washed and cleaned windows for two families who just moved, helped another family move some furniture around the house, and grocery shopped for the next group of people coming to work at Camp Curry next week. Additionally, we spent time in conversation with other families over dinners, afternoons and car rides. A huge thank you to Bob and Rita for driving us to the airport early Friday morning!

Overall, I really enjoyed the opportunity to partake in small town life for a short while. I have found that after spending multiple weeks in any community, I begin to feel like a part of it. There are always things that I won't experience in that short of a timeframe, but when people greet you with hugs and familiarity it is easy to feel at home in a community. I am so grateful that I took the opportunity God gave me to serve in Winchseter. A part of me will never be the same, and all the better for it! Thank you, Winchester RP for allowing myself and the team into your home.

Praise the Lord that all flights went well for our travels home on Friday!

What is Happening Now?

I am currently in Melbourne, Australia, where I will serve for the next 5 weeks with two other young ladies. We have all arrived safely as of this morning, praise the Lord for that!

Over this next week we will be moving into the suburb of Frankston to serve with the congregation there. Please pray for our time adjusting to the timezone and recovering from jet lag this week. Also pray that the Lord would be working in our hearts and minds as we get to know one another through this mission.

Thank you, God bless,

Jacqueline
